BLACK BUTT

BlackButt (eucalyptus patens) is one of the most common species of hardwood in Australia. It is a hardwood normally growing to height of about 75 metres and commonly grows in the coastal forests of New South Wales up to Maryborough in Queensland. It is very durable and stable timber. The colour is from light golden yellow to slightly dark pale brown. The sapwood is usually distinctly lighter in colour and easily distinguished from the heartwood.
